This is Alfa Nero
With her unmistakable black hull, Alfa Nero has embodied since 2007 a bold vision of motor yacht design, blending Dutch engineering with Italian styling.
History
Delivered by Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2007 under yard number Y702, Alfa Nero measures roughly 81 to 82 metres and ranked among the yard's most significant launches at the time. Since her debut, the yacht has received numerous industry accolades recognising both her exterior architecture and her interior styling, from organisations including ShowBoats International, Asia Pacific Boating, Yachts International Magazine and Boat International. These honours helped establish Alfa Nero as one of the most awarded yachts of her generation. The vessel underwent a refit in 2013 and completed a further maintenance and renovation programme in 2024.
Design
Naval architecture was developed in-house by Oceanco together with Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture, while the exterior lines were penned by the Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard. The result is defined by a dark steel hull paired with a light aluminium superstructure, a low stern and taut lines that broke with the conventions of her time. Her aft deck features one of the yacht's most talked-about innovations: an infinity pool that, through a hydraulic system, converts into a dance floor or a helicopter landing pad. This solution, groundbreaking for a vessel of her size, has since influenced many later superyacht designs across the industry.
Interiors
Spanning more than 1,250 square metres of living space, the interiors were entrusted to Italian designer Alberto Pinto, working alongside Nuvolari Lenard on certain communal areas. The atmosphere combines pop-art and Art Deco influences, with contrasting colour schemes, graphic striped flooring and artworks by celebrated contemporary artists. The main saloon is arranged around a black lacquered Pleyel grand piano surrounded by generous seating, while a staircase wrapping around a glass lift shaft connects the decks. The owner's suite occupies the entire forward section of the upper deck, complete with a private study, dressing room and direct access to a dedicated outdoor deck. The remaining staterooms, largely positioned on the main deck, feature coordinated colour palettes and refined finishes.
Technical Specifications
Alfa Nero is powered by twin MTU diesel engines that give her a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of between 15 and 18 knots depending on the source. Her range is estimated at around 5,500 nautical miles, allowing for extended passages without refuelling. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she measures roughly 2,500 gross tons and is fitted with active stabilisers both at anchor and underway. The yacht accommodates up to twelve guests across six staterooms, supported by a crew of around twenty-six.
Recently at sea
At 81 metres, she ranks #92 among the 2,393 yachts tracked by Yacht Tracker. She has not put to sea in the past 30 days. Yacht Tracker has been following her position since October 18, 2026.
