Koru is an exceptional 125-metre sailing yacht featuring a beam of 17 metres. Flying the flag of the Cayman Islands, this three-masted schooner features auxiliary engine power for ocean navigation.
History
Constructed in the Netherlands under the project code name Y721, the vessel was delivered in 2023. Custom superyacht specialist Oceanco directed the complex build at their Alblasserdam shipyard. Her hull transportation along Dutch waterways represented a landmark moment in modern maritime engineering. She stands as one of the largest sailing yachts ever completed.
Design
The naval architecture and exterior styling were developed by Dykstra Naval Architects alongside Lateral Naval Architects. Interior design was entrusted to the London-based studio Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi. Her structure incorporates a heavy-duty steel displacement hull topped with an aluminium superstructure. Her visual identity is characterized by a dark navy hull and three traditional wooden masts.
On board
Expansive exterior deck areas feature three plunge pools and a main deck swimming pool. The interior aesthetic blends natural wood finishes with neutral decorative tones. Dual MTU diesel engines provide auxiliary propulsion when operating under power. A complement of forty professional crew members manages all onboard operations.
