This is Ecstasea
Launched by Feadship in 2004, Ecstasea stood as the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. A low, powerful silhouette paired with exceptional engineering.
History
Ecstasea was delivered in 2004 by the Dutch shipyard Feadship, completed at the Royal Van Lent facility. At the time of her launch, she was the biggest Feadship ever built, a distinction that marked a milestone for the yard. Her hull was built at the Eltink shipyard before completion at Kaag, following the multi-site construction process typical of Feadship projects. The yacht remains one of the shipyard's landmark large, fast builds. Her scale and performance made her, from launch, a defining moment in Dutch superyacht construction.
Design
Naval architecture for Ecstasea was handled by De Voogt Naval Architects, who also completed the yacht's naval engineering. Her exterior styling was developed jointly by De Voogt and British designer Terence Disdale. The steel hull is topped by an aluminium superstructure and teak decks, built on a semi-displacement platform designed to balance speed, stability and comfort at sea. Her long, low profile reflects a design brief centred on performance, without departing from the refinement associated with the yard.
Interior
The interior was designed by Terence Disdale Design. The intended atmosphere is warm and relaxed, built around rich woods, welcoming tones and textured materials such as leather, oak and raffia, creating spaces that feel closer to a home than a conventional yacht. Circulation areas, arranged around the central technical structure, were treated as design features in their own right, with careful finishes extending into passageways. This design approach earned Ecstasea several interior design accolades.
Technical Specifications
Ecstasea's propulsion combines four MTU diesel engines with a General Electric LM2500 gas turbine, an unusual hybrid setup that allows her to reach high speeds for a yacht of her size. Her top speed is quoted at 33 knots, with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles at 15 knots. She has a gross tonnage of 2,107 GT. Among her technical features is a fully concealed helicopter hangar, complemented by additional space to accommodate a second aircraft on the aft deck.
Recently at sea
At 86 metres, she ranks #80 among the 2,393 yachts tracked by Yacht Tracker. She has not put to sea in the past 30 days. Yacht Tracker has been following her position since October 18, 2026.
