Founded in 1983, Italian shipyard Perini Navi is a global benchmark in large sailing yacht construction. The company designs exceptional vessels combining technical innovation and elegance.
History
Fabio Perini established the shipyard in 1983 in Viareggio, Tuscany. The company revolutionized luxury yachting by developing automated sail handling systems. This breakthrough technology enabled large sailing yachts to be operated with reduced crew. Over the decades, the yard expanded into motor yacht construction under the Picchiotti brand. Industrial operations grew to encompass facilities in La Spezia and Turkey. The company joined The Italian Sea Group to consolidate its production capabilities. Today, the brand continues to build upon its distinctive architectural heritage.
Craftsmanship
The shipyard is globally renowned for its expertise in automated rigging and captive reel winches. Its engineering teams design steel and aluminum hulls optimized for ocean navigation. Technical staff develop complex electronic systems for centralized sail control. In-house workshops execute high-precision marine joinery and luxury interior fittings. Facilities accommodate the covered construction of large-scale ketches and three-masted yachts. Every project undergoes thorough engineering oversight to ensure safety and nautical performance.
Key achievements
The shipyard creates iconic sailing vessels that shape the history of modern yachting. The sailing yacht Maltese Falcon stands out as a pioneering feat with its revolutionary Falcon Rig system. The three-masted vessel Badis highlights a commanding presence and ocean-going capabilities. Builds such as Seahawk and Sybaris showcase the evolution toward sleek designs and hybrid propulsion. The Exuma explorer motor yacht series demonstrates the builder's versatility in long-range craft. Each creation combines Italian technology with rich maritime tradition.
